Brethren, Pray For Us

One great joy that comes with being a member of the Lord’s church is knowing that we can boldly approach God in prayer (1 Thess. 5:17; Jas. 1:5-6). Because of Christ’s perfect sacrifice on the cross, we can “draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb. 4:16).

Another benefit of being a Christian comes from knowing that others are praying for us as well. The Apostle Paul requested the prayers of his brethren, “that God will open up to us a door for the word” (Col. 4:3; 1 Thess. 5:25). He also asked for prayers, to be “rescued from perverse and evil men” (2 Thess. 3:1-2). Paul desired that others would pray to God for his spiritual success, and we should do the same!

We need to pray as a body, together and for each other, that we might all find great success in our spiritual lives. Whether we are amid triumphs or troubles, highs or lows what could be more valuable than going, along with our brethren, boldly and confidently before God’s throne in our “time of need”?
