Jesus is the Way to a Better Life – Part II

So how is it that Jesus can give us a better life? He can do it by teaching us to seek new goals in life. He warns of the folly of seeking after riches. They are perishable. They are open to theft. Matthew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal.

He teaches us to put our treasure in heaven. Where it is imperishable. Where it is secure. Matthew 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.

How does one go about laying up treasure in heaven? By living for Jesus, even under the most adverse conditions. Luke 6:22-23 (KJV) Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. 23 Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

By following His teaching. Luke 6:35 (KJV) But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
