Have you ever heard it said that “You can’t legislate morality”? Sounds good, but if it is ever taken to its logical conclusion, it would mean that we could never have nay laws against murder, rape, or incest. If you could not legislate morality, you could not have laws against slavery, child marriages, or sex trafficking.
I’ve heard some say that most legislation is either legislating morality or legislating immorality. I suppose in some ways, laws are just codifications of the moral codes people accept. Yet, what if people get things upside down? The Bible said it could happen. “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.” (Isaiah 5:20).
