The Sure Word of Prophecy

One of the great proofs of the Bible and Christianity is found in the numerous Old Testament prophecies looking forward to the coming of Christ. The apostle Peter refers to these Old Testament prophecies in these words: “We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts.” (2 Peter 1:19)

Jesus understood the importance of these Old Testament prophecies and how they related to His mission on earth. On one occasion He said this: “All things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the Psalms concerning me.” (Luke 24:44) On another occasion He said, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they be they which testify of me.” (John 5:39)

Paul in the city of Thessalonica: “Reasoned with them out of the scriptures, opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.” (Acts 17:2-3)

One of the best ways to build up our own personal faith and also to lead others to believe is through a careful   study these prophecies.
