Thank You Lord

Christians have every reason to be thankful! God has graced us with both physical and spiritual blessings. We recognize and enjoy health, safety, and comfort in this temporary life while considering the cross, spiritual salvation, and eternity in heaven. Of all the blessings that God has given us, one of the greatest is His love.

Because God loves us, He made a plan. Throughout the Bible, we read as God’s plan for us unfolds. Jesus is coming, Jesus is here, Jesus is coming back. Peter calls it God’s “predetermined plan” (Acts 2:23) and says, “Before the foundation of the world,” God determined to send His Son, Jesus, to die in our place (1 Peter 1:20).

Because God loves us, He sent His Son. God not only made a plan for our eternal salvation, He followed through by sending His Son, even to die on the cross (John 3:16). Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Because God loves us, He has patiently waited for our obedience. Christ will one day return, but has waited this long because He is “patient…not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance”(2 Peter 3:9).

As we consider just how thankful we are in the coming days, remember how thankful we should be for God’s blessings and indescribable love.
