In Book of Matthew Jesus gives us a picture of the judgment. (Matthew 25:31-46) In that picture Jesus tells those on His right hand that when He was hungry, thirsty, a stranger, naked, sick, and in prison, they ministered unto Him. They asked, “Lord, when?” Jesus replied, “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye did it unto me.” Wow! When we minister to our brother s and sisters in Christ, Jesus says that He counts it as ministering unto him.
We are beginning 2018. It’s a time in which we might reflect on the past year; but let’s forget that and look to our future. What an opportunity lies before us at North Main. I look at our shut-in list and count six. And then there is the sick list. Plus others that could be ministered unto in one way or another. Visits, telephone calls, cards, etc. – think of the opportunities we have before us in 2018 to minister unto Jesus.
Maybe you are uncomfortable going alone. Then team up with someone else and go together. Maybe we did not do so well in 2017 but this is a new year filled with abundant opportunities to serve.
