Have you ever thought about who heaven will be like? Maybe we have pictured ourselves passing through the pearly gates or walking on a street of gold. We have probably also thought about those who have gone on before us and the great reunion that we hope to one day enjoy, but who will heaven be like?
Heaven will be like God. Among other things, God is righteous, and heaven is a place for those who have been made righteous by the blood of Christ.
Heaven will be like Christ. Jesus never sinned against God and gave everything to serve Him. Those who spend eternity in heaven will be those who have become like Christ.
Consider also that heaven will be like innocent children. Jesus said that “unless you…become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven,” and He went on to say, “for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 18:3; 19:14). Jesus knew what and who heaven was like, and He told his disciples, it belongs to children.
While heaven is a place of indescribable beauty, unending comfort, and ultimate safety from the dangers of this world, it is also a place filled with innocent souls who are protected and cared for by God. From the beginning of mankind, every innocent child who has lost their physical life has been received into that eternal home, where there will be only comfort, no more crying or pain. How beautiful and how innocent heaven must be.
