Our Heavenly Father

Well, it’s Father’s Day – the Day we are all honor our fathers. For some, it’s a day to do something special for father; for others it’s a day to remember. Today, in the sermon, I plan to talk about earthly fathers; but this article lets us consider our Heavenly Father.

The Psalmist David wrote, “Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.” (Psalm 103:13-14)

We know how a good earthly father can be: stern, strict, demanding. And we also know why: he wants his children to do well. He wants to keep them out of trouble. He wants to give them every advantage so that they may have success in life. But then, beyond the stern, strictness, there is a soft spot. He knows his little boy or girl is just that little person. He knows that his teenager is just a teenager, like he once was.

The same is true, of our Heavenly Father. He knows our frame, that we are made of dust. He knows that we are weak, frail human beings. So He extends His grace and mercy.
