A Godly Mother

As a new Christian and young mother, I ran across this short this poem:

A careful person, I ought to be; a little fellow follows me.

I do not dare to go astray, for fear he’ll go, the self-same way.

These few lines perfectly encapsulated the sentiment in my heart: to be the most righteous, God-fearing, obedient, faithful Christian mother I could; and, in so doing, guide my precious child to heaven. There is no more valuable gift a mother can give her child than being a godly example. Godly mothers are instilling character, teaching Biblical morals, and readying souls for heaven. If you are a mother, always remember this. If this is the type of mother you have, let her know how much you appreciate her. If not, pray for her, and all the other mothers who are failing their children by not setting a godly example.

“Her children rise up, and call her blessed.” Proverbs 31:28

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

The Little One That Follows Me

A careful woman I ought to be; a little one follows me. I do not dare to go astray, for fear they’ll go the self-same way. I cannot once escape their eyes, whatever they see me do, they’ll try. Like me, they say, they’re going to be, that little one that follows me. They think that I am good and fine; believe in every work of mine. The bad in me they must not see; my life to them must an example be. I must remember, as I go, through summer’s sun and winter’s snow, I’m building for the years to be, for that little one that follows me.
