Gaining Strength in God

Imagine facing a life more challenging than David’s. From a young age, he encountered adversity. Consider his trials: battling Goliath, surviving Saul’s repeated attempts on his life, enduring the betrayal of his own son Absalom who sought to kill him, and then his countless battles and conflicts. It would be hard to imagine a life more challenging than David. However, despite these overwhelming hardships, David still spoke of God in the Psalms as his constant provider and source of refuge.

David’s life serves as a powerful example during our own times of trouble and uncertainty. Adversity doesn’t mean God is punishing us, nor should it drive us away from Him. Instead, like David, we should turn to God and see Him as our source of salvation, our rock, and our shelter, as reflected in Psalm 18. Even in moments of deep sorrow and need, God remains the foundation of every spiritual blessing we have in Christ. He is the ultimate source of comfort.

David exemplifies his unwavering trust in God’s guidance and provision even through life’s darkest valley in Psalm 23. Understanding this, we should not just remain with God, we should actively seek refuge in Him. In Him alone we find the strength to withstand all that life throws our way.
