As Christians, we live in a world filled with shifting opinions, competing philosophies, and changing cultural norms. During all of this, there is one constant: the authority of God’s Word. The Bible is not merely a book of suggestions or moral guidance. It is God’s inspired, inerrant Word; powerful and alive, able to guide, correct, and transform our lives (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
What is meant by the Bible has all authority? It means the Bible holds the final say on all matters of life and godliness. In decisions, struggles, or doubts, the Bible provides the ultimate standard for truth. It shapes our beliefs, molds our character, and directs our actions according to God’s perfect will. Jesus Himself demonstrated that God’s Word holds the ultimate authority over us during temptations and trials (Matthew 4:1-11).
For the Christian today, submitting to Scripture means more than just reading it. It is a daily surrender to the Word of God. As we study and meditate, we then need to obey what we have read. When we allow God’s Word to live in us, we become spiritually nurtured, able to grow in knowledge, and be pleasing in His sight.
