Who are you? At first glance, this seems like a simple question. We can give our name, our job, or where we live, but even with that information, we still may not know who a person truly is. How would you answer this simple question?
For Christians, the first and most important answer should be: “I am a child of God.” But what does it mean to be God’s child? While there are many ways describe it, at its core it means we are belonging to God, and we live with the purpose of serving Him faithfully as we look forward to Heaven. The Christian life is marked by self-denial and daily submission to God. There will always be careers we could chase, opportunities that appeal to us, or choices that seem attractive, but we must ask ourselves, will this draw me closer to God or lead me farther away?
Romans 6:12–13 reminds us that we no longer allow sin to rule in our lives. Instead, we present ourselves to God as instruments of righteousness. So, when someone asks, “Who are you?” we can confidently say we are those who have surrendered our life to God. We live this way because God has already blessed us beyond measure as His children. With such rich spiritual blessings, why would we drift from Him? Instead, let us walk closer to Him each day, and be grateful for all He has given us.
