How To Stay Faithful

Why do we need to be reminded to stay faithful? As Christians have we not heard of the saving grace of God? Do we not have that hope of Heaven? Can we not call ourselves children of God, and coheirs of Christ? With just these few things, why do we need to be reminded to stay the course and keep striving for Christ?

But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. (Hebrews 3:13)

When there is a trial in our life, sin is at the door offering what is seemingly the better way. When life is going well, sin is at the door inviting more of the world and less of God. The Hebrews’ writer puts it best by saying, sin is deceitful. Sin offers us something that we want, or we think we need, but in the end it always leads to destruction.

The deceitfulness of sin is something that is hard to combat, but we can stay faithful by standing firm with the amor that God has provided (Ephesians 6:11-17). When we have girded ourselves, we should stand together and encourage one another (Proverbs 27:17). Then finally, we fully entrust our souls to our faithful Creator, knowing that He cares for us (1 Peter 4:19). Being reminded to stay faithful is not something that is repetitive or useless, instead absolutely necessary because of the deceitfulness of sin.
