In the song of Moses and the Israelites in Exodus 15:11, they sang, “Who is like You, majestic in holiness?” The Holiness of God is without compare. He alone is pure and morally perfect; there is no spiritual defect within Him. While describing the Holiness of God one must talk about the wrath of God.
As mankind we are given to wrath, but the wrath that we have is unlike God’s. He has the appropriate disdain for evil. Unlike human anger it is without emotion, without prejudice, and is always just. When looking at His wrath, we must ask ourselves, what can we learn from it?
We are given a glimpse of His wrath to warn us against sinning willfully. When He returns those who have gone on sinning will be repaid and it will be a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Hebrews 10:26-31). His wrath against sin also serves as a lesson for us today. Knowing what His wrath will fall upon, stresses the importance of living a Godly and righteous life (Romans 1:18). These lessons teach us how we might avoid the wrath of God, and how we might be more Holy as He is.
There are lessons for us to learn from the wrath of God; lessons that we are to take notice of and emulate to serve Him more. God’s wrath is not hateful but demonstrates the proper attitude towards sin.
