Abraham Lincoln stands out as one of history’s greatest leaders, known for leading by example. His leadership was rooted in honesty, integrity, and a firm commitment to preserving the Union while promoting equality. Lincoln’s effectiveness came from embodying the very values he championed. His dedication to fairness, humility, and perseverance inspired many, as he remained resolute, working tirelessly and considering diverse perspectives to make informed decisions.
Similarly, every Christian is called to be a great leader, grounded in God’s Word. Leadership transcends position or power; it is about character, service, and faith. Christians are encouraged to reflect Christ’s character in all areas of life—homes, workplaces, communities, and churches. While Lincoln’s leadership was remarkable, Christians can achieve being a great leader by living according to Christ’s teachings.
For example, Philippians 2:3-4 teaches selflessness, urging Christians to consider others before themselves. James 3:1-11 emphasizes using speech to bless others. Additionally, Matthew 5:13-16 highlights how actions can lead others to God, serving as a light in the world. Every Christian has the potential to be a great leader. The question remains: do we have the desire and willingness to give of ourselves to lead others to God?
