This past week, we were able to celebrate Thanksgiving. This typically is a time where family, friends, or maybe both, get together to share a meal and enjoy each other’s company. We may all have traditions, and whatever your tradition was, did you take time out of your day to remember that Thanksgiving was originally a time set aside to be thankful? It seems like so many today have forgotten that the purpose of thanksgiving is to be thankful for what we have. In fact, the Friday right after thanksgiving is black Friday, a time for deals and shopping. The Monday after is called cyber-Monday, a time for more deals and more shopping. While those days of deals are great, and we all shop on them, don’t forget to be thankful for what we have. Paul tells us to give thanks in all circumstances (1 Thess. 5:18). This means more than just one time a year a Christian should be thankful. We should always be giving thanks for God’s lovingkindness (Ps. 107:1), grace (1 Cor. 1:4), and a hope of heaven (John 14:1-4). There is so much to be thankful to God for. Don’t forget to thank Him for all that you have.
