April Showers Bring May Flowers

Can you believe that it is already spring? It seems just the other day we were bringing in the New Year, and now spring is here. A time filled with planting gardens, being outside, and of course a lot of pollen. We’ve all heard the saying, “April showers bring May flowers.”

Even though the rain can feel inconvenient at times, without it, the flowers would never come. In the same way, the work of evangelism can sometimes feel uncomfortable. It may take stepping out of our comfort zones, facing uncertainty, or even dealing with rejection. But these ‘showers’ are what help the spread of the Gospel.

Our conversations or invitations may be like that drop of rain. We may not immediately see the results, and at times it may feel like nothing is happening. But we never know what is happening with the one who is listening. The seed is the Gospel, the showers are those who spread the seed, and it is God who causes the growth.

May flowers don’t appear overnight; they come after consistent rain and care. The fruits of evangelism don’t appear overnight; they come after consistent work and care. As we move through April, let us be like those ‘showers’ who are seeking to bring those to Christ, continually having the mindset of sharing the Gospel; there is always one more to be saved.
