Confidence in Salvation

Have you considered what makes you confident? For instance, some individuals are confident in their abilities because they’ve attended school or worked in a career where they’ve had to utilize their skills, which has instilled confidence in them. When examining what truly makes a person confident, it involves being taught something, possessing knowledge, putting it to the test, demonstrating their ability, and finally, being certain of their ability to do it consistently. This combination of factors contributes to their confidence.

What if someone asked, “Are you confident in your salvation?” If the aforementioned factors instill confidence, how can anyone be confident in their salvation? The answer lies in God’s promises. Throughout history, God has made numerous promises, and more than just making promises, He has consistently carried them through. This demonstrates His consistent ability to prove Himself true. Therefore, we should be confident that we are in the Light, because He is the Light. If we are walking in the Light as He is in the Light, and we are demonstrating faithful obedience every day, then we can be confident that He is faithful and that we are promised our salvation. A salvation that God Himself has promised to all who come to Him obediently.
