Follow the Leader

Remember the game “Follow the Leader”? You may have played it as a kid or maybe played it with your kids. It was a simple and easy game where you followed the leader wherever they went and copied what they did. You were out of the game if you couldn’t match their actions. It was straightforward, except when you had a leader who deliberately tried to get everyone out by making the stunts more challenging and difficult to follow.

As we grew up, we might have thought that the days of playing “Follow the Leader” were over. However, once we reached the age of accountability, understood the Gospel, and obeyed it, we realized that the life of following a leader had begun, and the stakes were higher. The only difference between the game we played and our current reality is that Christ doesn’t want to lead us in a way that we will fail. Instead, as it says in Hebrews 12:1-3, He left a perfect example for us to follow, so that we can fix our eyes on Him. Peter demonstrates in 1 Peter 2:21 that Christ led in such a way that we could follow in His footsteps. As we go through life now, let us follow Jesus and His example so that we may win our crown.
