When you were a kid, or even now, did you ever get excited to see a rainbow after a rainstorm? When you look at it does it remind you that there is a God in Heaven who is keeping His promises? It is sad to think of the world changing the very thing that represents God’s promise to something that is an abomination in His eyes.
When we look at the rainbow, we should think back, around 4,000 years ago, to a promise that God made to mankind (Genesis 9:12-16). God promised Noah to never flood the earth again, no matter how evil it becomes. This rainbow stood as an everlasting covenant between God and man. That covenant is still being upheld today.
When we see that rainbow after the storm, we can think of the One who makes promises and upholds them. The God that we serve has promised a lot to us; our forgiveness of sins, His comfort, His peace, our home in Heaven, etc. The list could go on, but the point is the same; the God that promised Noah to never flood the earth again has kept that promise. This is the same God that we serve, who has sworn to us that there is a hope before us. Next time you see a rainbow, take a moment and think of the God who put it there in the sky for us to see, and think of Him and His promises.
