1 John 2:15-17 tells us that we should not love the world. Looking at 1 John we get a definition of what worldly love really is: the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and pride of possession. We should never be so attached to the things of this world that we lose sight of where we want to go, which is heaven.
Finding a reason not to be a part of this world may be hard. Jesus says that the world is going to hate those who have His word (John 17:14-15). It is never easy to be somewhere and feel like you don’t fit in. However, keep in mind that it doesn’t matter if we are accepted or not in this world. When we get to our real home, our heavenly home, we will fit right in.
Journeying through the world is very hard, and being a Christian is not for the faint of heart, but we can have comfort in knowing that Jesus says that He will always be with us (Matt. 28:20), and that we can have a place secured with Him forever if we do not give up.
