Have you ever heard the children’s song, “Oh be careful little eyes what you see”? It’s a song we often teach kids to be mindful of their actions, speech, and thoughts. The song teaches them that the reason we need to be mindful is because God can see everything we say and do.
Someone once said that the best way to learn something is to teach it. As we teach our children this song, let’s take a moment to reflect on how it applies to our own lives. It’s easy for us to act impulsively or say things that aren’t in line with our Christian values, but if we really think about God seeing and hearing everything we do, we’ll be more motivated to control our actions, speech, and thoughts and to live better in the eyes of God. The reason we sing this song is because what it implies is crucial for Christians. Is what we listen to, watch, or say acceptable to God? Just like in the song, we can think about when our Father up above looks down in love, is He going to be pleased with what He sees us doing, or will He be saddened by our actions?
