Matthew 28:19 starts, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…” This is a verse that is common to most, and yet we must ask, have we truly fulfilled this commandment? There is no need to go into another country, state, or even county. Right here, we are surrounded by lost souls who are in need of the gospel.
Think about how many new houses are going up, how many families are moving into our area, people who are now within our reach. Have you ever stopped to consider how many of those families may pass through our fingers? Not because they were unwilling to accept the gospel, but because we never tried to reach them.
We sing songs about working in the kingdom. We pray that the church may grow and that we can be a part of the Lord’s will. However, is one thing missing? Are we truly giving our full effort to reach the lost? In Romans 10:14, Paul reminds us that unless Christians spread the word, the world will not know in whom they should believe.
In just six short weeks, we have Friends and Family Day. A day not to invite a stranger, but someone with whom we already have a connection. The groundwork is already done. You have an “in” with them. All that is needed is a simple conversation. But after May 3rd, who else are we going to try to bring to Christ? Who else are we around that needs to hear to the Gospel?
