Have you ever considered the profound impact your mother has had on your life? While some may not have had the ideal role model for a mother, for those who did, can you recall the sacrifices she made, or the things that she was willing to do for you? For instance, it was my mother who taught me to read, walk, and talk, and the list goes on. I am certain that many others can share similar stories, perhaps even more examples of their mothers’ contributions to their lives.
As we dedicate a day to reflecting, celebrating, and expressing gratitude to our mothers, what we are seeing is a glimpse of the teachings of God. The love of a mother resembles the boundless, unconditional, and nurturing nature of God. Many of us have witnessed these qualities in our mothers, and known them to be from God, but can we say that we have instilled them in our lives? All Christians are called to have this love, the same love that God loved us with. This love that is not just for our family, but instead a love for all. Just as we have seen the love of God through our mother’s let us make sure others can see the love of God through our lives.
