What Are We Doing With Our Lives

How much do you have planned for the week? Summer is coming to an end, did you get everything done that you had planned for summer, or do you wish there was just a few more weeks so you could get everything squeezed in? Do you now have a to do list for the rest of the year?

We have so much of our lives planned out. We know when our vacations are, we plan to keep that PTO for a ‘just-in-case’, and we may even have the weekends planned as to what we are going to do. However, when is the last time that we planned to serve God? Has there ever been a time that we have thought out our week to the point that we know what we are going to do for God each day?

It is true for most everyone that our lives are busy, and there is always something else to be done, but don’t forget the reason that we were made. We were made to give glory to God (Isaiah 43:7). Our lives are not our own, but instead we were bought at a tremendous price, to glorify God (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). We may need to sit down and re-think what our priorities are. Everything in this world is going to pass away. All those hours spent working or having fun may be good, but at the end of life what will really matter? In Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, Solomon tells us what we should be doing; fearing God and keeping His commandments. What are we going to do this week to accomplish this?
