Have you ever found yourself starting a spring cleaning mission to tackle a cluttered space that has spiraled out of control? It could be the stereotypical basement that has accumulated items over the years, or the garage that has transformed into a makeshift drop zone instead of a designated parking spot. Regardless of the source of the clutter, the key realization is that the journey begins with a single step: starting to clean one item at a time. Before you know it, the room will have morphed into a clean and organized haven.
This same problem may arise when we contemplate how to begin in our evangelistic efforts. Where do we even begin talking with someone about the Gospel? The simplest solution is to start with the individuals we already know and have a relationship with. While it can be challenging or intimidating to make ‘cold calls,’ beginning with someone familiar provides a sense of comfort and familiarity. Then, start with a single step: ask them if they go to church, or maybe if they had ever thought about anything spiritual or have an interest in learning about the Bible. Being evangelistic is not hard if we just start doing it one step at a time. Let us try to make that first step.
