It will not come as a shock that there is a moral decline in the world today. Sadly, this decline has crept its way into the church. Family values, the seriousness of Christian living, and the importance of being a Christian example, have all come under attack. Yet, this is not new. We read of times when God’s people had drifted away from Him, and each time God looked for someone who would stand in the midst of the decline. The question we need to consider is “Who is God going to find?”
Ezekiel presented this same problem to God’s chosen people who had taken advantage of others, shed innocent blood, and profaned what was Holy. God, through Ezekiel, said, “I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one” (Ezekiel 22:30). God simply looked for one who would stand in the gap between righteousness and wickedness to take a stand for Him and yet found no one.
What about us? If God looked for one to stand in this gap, would He find one today? We can be those who stand in that gap by defending the truth, taking the Gospel to the lost, and earnestly serving God with all we have. Are you willing to stand in the gap?
