Have you ever watched a skilled construction crew assemble a building? You might have noticed their organization and teamwork. For instance, the roofers didn’t come before the foundation was laid. Each team arrives at the right time, completes their job, and passes it on. Despite minor setbacks, skilled crews can overcome each other’s weaknesses to complete the project successfully, ensuring that they are working together.
Watching a skilled construction crew, we can draw parallels between them and Christians building the Church. As we read through 1 Timothy and Titus, we discover that God has established organization within His Church. The Elders are likened to shepherds, guiding the congregation in accordance with God’s Word. The Deacons oversee specific areas or tasks within the congregation, ensuring their proper management. The congregants themselves are called to work together towards the common goal of building the church. Every Christian is called to work for the Kingdom of God. Some may be elders, others deacons, and still others congregants. Whichever category you land under, we all are still known as fellow workers. Everyone’s goal should be to build themselves up in God’s Word, and to do all they can to build His church.
